Discover the timeless art of waxed paper flowers with Charlotte Hepworth, Master of Wax Flowers, whose creations are so lifelike you'll be forgiven for mistaking them for the real thing. Over this festive one-day workshop in the Highgrove Garden Room, Charlotte will guide you as you transform humble crepe paper, painted with artist oils and dipped in wax, into beautiful, everlasting Christmas roses in the shades of your choice. You’ll leave with your own pot of Christmas roses, alongside a hand-painted “ghost flower” to treasure.
No previous experience is needed. Charlotte begins with an introduction to the history of paper flowers and her own journey into the craft, before guiding you through every stage: cutting templates, petals, leaves and stamens; choosing colours from reference material and real flowers; assembling your Christmas roses with glue and fine wire; painting with thinned oils; and finally shaping, waxing and arranging them in a vase or vintage pot, finished with moss.
All materials are included, and every guest will receive a full set of written instructions to take home. Please bring an apron, as it is essential for painting.
Enjoy a warm welcome in the Garden Room on the Highgrove Estate, with tea or coffee on arrival as you settle in for a festive day of creativity. After a busy morning at the workbench, relax over a delicious lunch freshly prepared by our Highgrove chefs, before returning to bring your Christmas roses to life. The day closes with tea and refreshments, plus a chance to explore the Highgrove shop, perfect for Christmas gift shopping.
